CITIC Harbour City Center takes the unique curved water ripples and triangular sails in the harbour as the design inspiration elements. The plan of the project is generated by flexible curves, and diagonal lines are used on the facade to create a metaphor of sail. After main building’s completion, the owner proposed to add an auditorium room. Due to the functional requirements of the auditorium room for rectangular plans and solid walls, the new volume is connected to the original curved building in the form of a rectangular box. The surface of the newly built block is made of GRC material, and the theme of sailing on the original facade is reinterpreted through light and shadow of the undulating modules.
