Bamiyan Cultural Center

Concentrated at Bamiyan, Afghanistan, gifts from nature, and once, the trends of multiple ancient civilizations from East, West, North and South. The trajectories of geographic connections and cultural influences diagram a recognizable FIELD that is CENTERED ON ITS CORE.From the world to the site, centered axes create a matrix, which is original and intricate with the rhythm that gets denser towards the center, where Bamiyan Culture Center locates. Based on its pure objective and materialized origin, from facade to interior space, the shape of ARC is selected to construct the project as a whole. The touching down arc foot stand on the field attractors, so the span distance varies from the inter rim to the outer perimeter, allowing for the flexibility of exhibition and other activities of the building. Defined by the continuous arc-spans, an exhibition hall, a library and a performance hall is located facing the view of the Grand Buddha Statue, the valley and the outer space. Other programs are planned aside of the ground level and on parts of the second level.
